Höegh Autoliners is a leading global provider of ocean transportation services within the Roll-on Roll-off (RoRo) segment. Based in Oslo, Norway, the company is known for its fleet of specialized Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTC), which are ships designed specifically to transport vehicles in large quantities. Höegh Autoliners operates on a global scale, offering deep-sea transportation services across continents.

Through nearly a century at sea, Höegh Autoliners has been a beacon of innovation, leading the maritime transportation sector into the future. Their new ship, Aurora Class may be their most significant innovation yet. One that will transform deep-sea shipping and the transportation of cars, breakbulk, and heavy machinery across oceans.

The company’s history traces back to 1927, with Leif Höegh & Co starting as a shipping service. Over the decades, Höegh Autoliners has grown to become one of the leading operators in the ro-ro (roll-on/roll-off) shipping sector. They emphasize sustainability in their operations, aiming to reduce the environmental impact of their shipping activities. This involves investing in more energy-efficient vessels and exploring new technologies such as LNG-fueled ships.

Objective

We transformed the traditional annual report from a static PDF format to a dynamic, interactive digital format. This change was intended to increase engagement by making the report more accessible and informative, thereby aligning it more closely with the interests and needs of stakeholders, including investors, clients, employees, and regulatory bodies.

“Embracing our digitalisation strategy, Höegh Autoliners has transitioned from a traditional PDF format to an interactive digital annual report for 2023. This shift not only reflects our commitment to digitalisation and innovation but also enhances transparency and accessibility for our stakeholders.”

Digital transformation

The project began with a thorough assessment of the existing annual report format and a series of strategic planning sessions to outline the vision for a digital solution. The initiative was driven by a desire to not only meet but exceed the evolving expectations for corporate communication in the digital age.

In pursuit of their digital transformation goals, Höegh Autoliners sought a partner that could not only envision a cutting-edge digital solution but also deliver it seamlessly. This strategic partnership utilized our innovative capabilities to revolutionize how Höegh Autoliners communicated with its stakeholders.

Engage stakeholders

The collaboration was designed to transition Höegh Autoliners’ annual report from a static PDF to a dynamic, engaging, digital format. The goal was to create a robust, user-friendly platform that would redefine stakeholder engagement by making the report more accessible and visually compelling.

The development process involved several key phases, including design conceptualization, user experience (UX) and  testing.

“The collaboration with Stem Agency has been key in our transition to our new digital format. Their expertise and guidance have enabled us to present both our financial and sustainability performance in a more engaging and dynamic format.”
