Naming process and visual identity

Over 200 years ago the first ‘brannkassene’ (fire boxes) were established, and Norway had a total of 260 fire extinguishers.

Most local fire brigades have merged with Gjensidige Forsikring, while some chose to remain independent companies. These independent companies needed both a new name and a profile to show they are here to stay.

In the naming process, the choice fell on Varig Forsikring. The name signifies a safe choice for those who are concerned with the safety of their valuables.

Varig’s strategy differs from most other players in the market in being a local company, owned and managed by their customers. Both the boards and the general assembly are elected by the customers. The Varig companies emphasises giving back to the local community. Their owners, i.e. the customers, help make this possible.

Local presence, excellent costumer service, solid expertise and damage prevention are key concepts for the Varig companies. The profile emphasises Varig as a solid, safe and local operator that stands up for its customers.
